Boeing set a record for 737 Max orders in December last year, an achievement that is usually worth celebrating, but the company is under increasing scrutiny after the near catastrophic accident at Alaska Airlines. The aircraft manufacturer reported that the order volume for the 737 Max in December was 301, and the total gross order volume for Boeing's product line was 371, setting a record high. The largest exporter in the United States has also managed to achieve its annual delivery target for this heavy jet aircraft, which was lowered in the fourth quarter due to earlier supply failures. Given that the 737 Max is Boeing's largest source of revenue, its strong performance at the end of 2023 sends an optimistic signal for the coming year in terms of employment performance. But the Alaska Flight 1282 accident cast a shadow over its prospects, and regulatory agencies grounded most of the Max 9 fleet after the accident.
