According to the Economic and Commercial Affairs Department of the Chinese Embassy in Chile, the Chilean "Messenger" reported on February 28th that the Second Environmental Court of Chile recently passed the accusation against Google's data center project, stating that the project did not include climate change influencing factors in hydrological assessments, and that the content of the project's Environmental Certification Resolution (RCA) was illegal and required to enter the environmental impact assessment process again. Regarding the re issued explanation by the Smart Environmental Assessment Agency (SEA) The adjustment and supplementation of the comprehensive report (Icsara) shall be explained, and the project shall not be executed until the comprehensive evaluation report (ICE) and supplementary RCA are obtained. It is reported that the project is built by Google in the cities of Cerrillos and San Bernardo in the Smart Capital Region, for the purpose of technical data storage. The planned investment for the project is 200 million US dollars, with a construction land area of 23 hectares. In response, Google stated that the project has always been designed with sustainability as its core concept, respecting local government requirements. In 2022, it proposed to SEA to change the cooling method of data servers from water cooling to air cooling.
