Foreign media released the first wave of trial reviews for Apple's first mixed reality (MR) headset, with many lamenting that it was "too heavy.".
Of course, some reviewers also stated that they did not feel the weight issue with Vision Pro. For example, Rich DeMuro, a journalist for Los Angeles Television KTLA, described the trial experience of Vision Pro as "unbelievable", combining an easy-to-use operating system with excellent applications. He believed that entertainment would become its main attraction, while improving productivity and learning were two other good application scenarios.
Famous Apple whistleblower journalist Mark Gurman published an article on the 14th, stating that due to its expensive price and complexity of use, the Vision Pro may be the most severe marketing challenge Apple has ever faced. According to feedback from some retail store employees, they feel tired after only wearing the headset for about half an hour. Even though there are more comfortable options for wearing the headband, the experience is still unsatisfactory after prolonged use.
In order to promote Vision Pro, Apple has also prepared the most complex demonstration process in history, lasting 25 minutes at a time. Throughout the entire demonstration process, the salesperson needs to first use an application similar to setting facial IDs to scan the user's face and select the most suitable accessory sizes for the customer. Subsequently, the salesperson will explain the interface operation to the user, demonstrate how to use and adjust accessories such as headbands, and have the customer calibrate the equipment before starting the formal demonstration.
Previously, according to research firm Counterpoint's prediction, the shipment of Extended Reality (XR) headsets is expected to increase by 3.9 million units in 2024, while Apple will sell approximately 500000 Vision Pro units this year. Renowned Apple analyst Guo Minggui stated that Apple has only produced a total of 80000 Vision Pro units for this release, and it is expected to be sold out soon; Due to the complexity of manufacturing, it is expected that Apple will produce no more than 400000 Vision Pro units by 2024.
