According to CCTV News App, on December 20th local time, Tesla recalled nearly 700000 cars due to issues with the tire pressure monitoring system warning light.
According to a letter released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this recall involves some 2024 electric pickup trucks (Cybertruck), 2017-2025 Model 3, and 2020-2025 Model Y models.
It is reported that the tire pressure monitoring system warning lights of these vehicles may not be continuously on between two driving cycles, which cannot remind drivers of low tire pressure. Improper tire pressure while driving increases the risk of accidents.
Tesla has stated that it has provided free software updates to address the issue.
Affected by multiple news such as recalls, Tesla's stock price has fallen for three consecutive days, with a drop of 12.25% in the past three trading days and a market value evaporation of over $1889 billion (approximately RMB 1.38 trillion).
As of the close on December 20th, Tesla's stock price was $421.06, with a total market value of $1.35 trillion.
And this is not the first time Tesla has faced a recall this year.
In November of this year, information disclosed on the official website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States showed that some 2024 Tesla Cybertruck electric pickups were equipped with defective drive inverters, which may cause wheel power loss. Therefore, 2431 Cybertrucks will be recalled.
In October, Tesla recalled over 27000 Cybertrucks due to delayed rearview camera images, which could affect drivers' visibility and increase the risk of collisions. After the recall, the company will conduct a system update on the relevant vehicles to address this issue.
In August, according to the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. Starting from October 8, 2024, a total of 870 imported Model X electric vehicles produced between March 16, 2016 and July 31, 2016 will be recalled.
Some vehicles within the scope of this recall are equipped with adhesive to attach the front and middle roof panels to the top of the vehicle, and a primer is required to increase the adhesion between the two. Due to insufficient primer on the surface of the decorative panel, the adhesion of the panel may weaken over time, and in extreme cases, the panel may detach from the vehicle, posing a safety hazard.
Previously, Tesla also conducted vehicle recalls due to loose accelerator pedal pads, windshield wipers, and incorrect font size of warning lights.
