On December 13th, it was announced that Amazon plans to donate $1 million to the inauguration fund of US President elect Trump. The founder of the company, Bezos, and other tech leaders are strengthening their relationship with the new government. Insiders revealed that while preparing for this donation, Bezos plans to visit Trump's private club, Mar-a-Lago Estate, in Palm Beach, Florida next week. Bezos and Amazon decided on this donation earlier this week and have informed Trump's team. A person said, 'Bezos will donate through Amazon.' Amazon will also live stream the inauguration ceremony through its Prime Video business.
Amazon provided approximately $58000 in cash and in kind donations to Trump's inauguration ceremony in 2017, with other tech companies donating even larger amounts at the time. It is reported that the Biden administration has told Amazon that it does not accept donations from tech companies for the 2021 inauguration ceremony.
