On December 6th, a reporter from China Securities Journal and China Securities Taurus learned from Wenyuan Zhixing that Wenyuan Zhixing and Uber Technologies announced that their cooperative autonomous driving travel service has officially landed in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
It is reported that this is the first time Uber has launched autonomous vehicles outside the United States, and Tawasul Transport, a local transportation company in the United Arab Emirates, will serve as the fleet operator.
Wenyuan Zhixing stated that from today on, Uber users in Abu Dhabi will have the opportunity to match their Robotaxi autonomous vehicles with Wenyuan Zhixing when using UberX or Uber Comfort services. This service first covers the core area of Abu Dhabi, including Saadiyat Island, Yas Island, and routes to and from Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport, and plans to expand to a wider range in the future.
In the initial stage of operation, each autonomous vehicle will be equipped with a safety officer to ensure that passengers and pedestrians have a safe and reliable experience, laying a solid foundation for upgrading to pure unmanned commercial operation services by 2025.
