On September 26th, Alibaba held a Taobao Hong Kong business conference in Hong Kong, announcing that Taobao will invest 1 billion yuan to turn Hong Kong into a free shipping area. In the upcoming peak consumption season, Hong Kong consumers can enjoy free shipping when shopping on Taobao for over 99 yuan. The project is managed by Taobao and Tmall for investment, while Alibaba International is responsible for user operations and logistics in Hong Kong.
In August of this year, Taobao piloted free shipping for clothing in Hong Kong, which was well received by consumers. This free shipping has expanded from the clothing industry to the entire industry, covering over 1 billion products including popular categories such as 3C digital, home storage, sports and entertainment, makeup and skincare.
Currently, 92% of products on Taobao support official direct shipping to Hong Kong, and the delivery time has been shortened to 3-4 days. In order to facilitate consumers to pick up their goods, the number of official Taobao pick-up points and lockers in Hong Kong will increase to 800. At the same time, on the basis of local returns, Taobao will also add cross-border return services, and Hong Kong consumers only need to return to the local logistics outlet.
