Before launch, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan all joined the "free shipping area" on Taobao and Tmall, and customers who place orders exceeding a certain limit can enjoy the free shipping benefits. At present, the product categories that support "global free shipping" on Taobao have expanded from the clothing industry to multiple industries such as 3C digital, mother and baby trendy play, sports and outdoor, home appliances, etc.
Among the merchants participating in Taobao and Tmall's overseas growth plan, nearly 70000 merchants have doubled their transaction volume, and are the first to taste the dividend of 'one click global sales'. In terms of categories, as of now, during Tmall's' Double 11' period, the transaction volume of large clothing free shipping merchants has increased by 207% year-on-year; in addition, industries such as 3C, trendy toys, and furniture have all had double-digit growth rates, "said the person in charge of Taobao Group." Stormtroopers, tank tops, ballet shoes, scalp essential oils, and game keyboards are among the fastest-growing categories in Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea, with year-on-year growth rates of 56%, 68%, 277%, 86%, and 118%, respectively
The relevant person in charge of Taotian Group stated that currently, various e-commerce platforms are trying to explore different paths to go global. Unlike other platforms' cross-border models, merchants who follow Taobao to go global have the autonomy to set prices for their products, and they do not need to engage in additional operations. They can simply send their goods to the Cainiao consolidation warehouse in China. The interviewed businessmen believe that under this mode, they do not need to open additional stores and configure pallets separately, so they have less business burden and higher autonomy, especially for small and medium-sized businessmen who want to go to sea as independent brands.
