At the Taobao Hong Kong Business Conference held on the 26th, Taobao announced that it will invest 1 billion yuan to achieve free shipping in Hong Kong. It is reported that Taobao and Tmall are responsible for attracting investment for this project, while Alibaba International is responsible for user operations and logistics in Hong Kong.
In the upcoming peak consumption season, Hong Kong consumers can enjoy free shipping when shopping on Taobao for over 99 yuan, "said a representative from Alibaba International. Currently, 92% of products on Taobao support official direct shipping to Hong Kong, and the delivery time has been shortened to 3-4 days. To facilitate consumers in picking up their goods, the number of official Taobao pick-up points and lockers in Hong Kong will be increased to 800. At the same time, on the basis of local returns, Taobao will also add cross-border return services, and Hong Kong consumers only need to return to the local logistics outlet.
In addition, in order to create a new consumption scene that integrates online and offline, Taobao will also collaborate with Xinhua Group to invest in the construction of a 4000 square meter experience center in Zhonggang City, Yau Tsim Mong District, Hong Kong, which is expected to open early next year.
Hong Kong has always been a key market for Taobao, "said Ye Jianqiu, General Manager of Taobao Tmall Overseas Business Unit." From the growth of free shipping orders in Hong Kong, free shipping services are highly welcomed by Hong Kong consumers. We hope to cover a wider range of categories and make users happier when buying. This investment fully reflects our emphasis and confidence in the Hong Kong market, and we will continue to launch more localization measures in the future to continuously improve consumers' shopping experience
