According to Tianyancha, Shanghai Canxing Culture Media Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Canxing Culture"), the producer of "The Voice of China", has recently added a court announcement. The respondent is PepsiCo (China) Co., Ltd., and the case is a reputation dispute. The case will be heard in Huangpu District People's Court, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province on September 27th.
It is understood that there was friction between the two sides on the day when "The Voice of China" ceased broadcasting.
On August 25, 2023, Zhejiang TV announced the suspension of the broadcast of "The Voice of China". On the same day, the title sponsor of the program, PepsiCo China, also posted a Weibo post asking, "Will the money of those contestants who paid be refunded?" The post was "instantly deleted". Subsequently, the topic of "Pepsi China cutting the wrong number" quickly sparked discussions among netizens.
Tianyancha shows that Canxing Culture has had a total of 190 court announcements since the beginning of this year, mainly related to disputes over infringement of work information network dissemination rights.
It is worth noting that Canxing Culture's company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange is Starry Sky Chinese (6698. HK).
In the first half of 2024, Starry Sky Chinese's revenue was 79.38 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 47.66%; Net profit was 56.79 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 276.68%. Starry Sky Huawen stated that the increase in net loss was mainly due to a decrease in the number of variety shows compared to the same period last year, resulting in a decrease in revenue during the reporting period.
In terms of stock price, since the announcement of the suspension of "The Voice of China", the stock price of Starry Sky Chinese has fallen by over 95%.
