Multiple media outlets reported on May 10th that insiders said McDonald's plans to launch a $5 low-priced package in the United States, aimed at attracting low-income groups affected by inflation.
McDonald's recently released mixed results for the first quarter, with same store sales in the United States slightly lower than expected. On April 30th, McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski stated during a company finance conference call, "Due to the impact of rising prices, consumers are becoming more cautious about daily consumption, which is putting pressure on the fast food industry... McDonald's must focus on affordability of prices to attract consumers."
