The automaker said overall sales rose 7.7 percent from a year earlier to 50,504 vehicles, bringing the year-to-date total to 1.51 million.
Andrew Frick, vice President of Sales, Distribution and Trucks, said: "We delivered strong, balanced volume growth in the third quarter, offering customers more choice, with growth in gasoline, electric, hybrid and commercial van sales. Ford's trucks are still the best-selling products in the industry."
Before the sales figures were released, Ford said it had sent its "strongest" proposal to date to the United Auto Workers union in an effort to end the nearly three-week strike, saying that while the proposal was "costly," it would still allow for investment in growth.
