Daihatsu Industries, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, has been ordered to rectify data fraud and other violations during vehicle testing for 34 years. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has officially intervened in the investigation and will order Daihatsu Industries to rectify the situation. All factories of Daihatsu Industries in Japan have ceased production and suspended shipments. According to Japanese media reports, the number of companies affected by the shutdown of Dafa, including direct suppliers and related enterprises, may reach over 8000.
