All 27 economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal predict that the Bank of Korea will keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 3.50% on Thursday. No one predicts that the Bank of Korea will adjust interest rates before the end of the year. Some people expect that after years of tightening policies, the central bank will start cutting interest rates in 2024 to help alleviate financial pressure. Nomura Securities stated that they insist that by the end of 2024, the Bank of Korea will lower its policy interest rate from the current 3.5% to 2.5%. Barclays pointed out that the overall inflation rate in the country has recently increased, but the core inflation rate continues to show a downward trend.
