On November 27th local time, Google summoned its three major AI competitors - OpenAI, Perplexity AI, and Microsoft - during the remedial phase of the Google Search antitrust trial.
Google hopes to convince the court by collecting information from these competitors, as its search monopoly is facing more competition due to the emergence of AI driven search technology.
The subpoena requires these companies to provide materials related to search and advertising, including usage data, cooperation agreements, advertising strategies, etc.
Various companies have different legal responses to this, with Microsoft stating that it will provide most of the requested documents, while OpenAI and Perplexity have raised objections to certain requests.
