According to Article 25, Paragraph 1 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Public Security Administration Punishments, anyone who spreads rumors, falsely reports on dangerous situations, epidemics, police situations, or intentionally disrupts public order by other means shall be detained for not less than five days but not more than ten days and may also be fined not less than 500 yuan; For minor offenses, detention for up to five days or a fine of up to five hundred yuan shall be imposed.
BYD and NIO have refuted rumors
Previously, there were screenshots circulating online showing a suspected employee of BYD posting that BYD and NIO have partnered to establish the BYD Future Automotive Group. Among them, BYD holds 51% of the shares and NIO holds 49% of the shares. Bi Future Automotive Group will acquire NIO for 16.5 billion yuan, with BYD providing financial and technological support. After the acquisition, Bi Future Automotive Group directly controls NIO, but NIO is still independently operated by NIO Group.
On November 22nd, Li Yunfei, the General Manager of BYD Group's Brand and Public Relations Department, refuted rumors on social media, saying, "The investment and cooperation information related to BYD and NIO that has been circulating online is seriously untrue! Please do not believe the rumors and do not spread them
Ma Lin, Assistant Vice President of Brand and Communication at NIO, also issued a statement to refute the rumors. Ma Lin said, "The company's current operating conditions are good, with a positive cash flow in the third quarter and an increase in gross profit in October. It is expected that the sales of Ledao models will exceed 10000 in December." In addition, Ma Lin also attached a screenshot of his WeChat chat with Li Yunfei. It is mentioned that if BYD employees spread false information, it is hoped that they can clarify and apologize; If not, NIO and BYD can jointly report and handle the situation.
On November 23rd, NIO's legal department issued a statement stating that in response to rumors circulating online about NIO and other companies' capital levels, the company immediately reported to the police and was accepted.
