At this year's CIIE, Sony (China) Co., Ltd. participated with the theme of "Innovation and Sustainability, Moving towards the Future" and released the "Sony China Sustainable Development Report 2023".
This is the 18th Sustainable Development Report released by Sony (China) Co., Ltd. since 2006, revealing Sony's long-term plans and phased progress in the environmental field.
According to reports, Sony's long-term environmental plan to "move towards zero load" aims to gradually reduce the environmental load on enterprise operations and product life cycles until zero by 2050, and set specific goals in four major areas: climate change, resources, chemicals, and biodiversity.
In May 2022, Sony announced an acceleration in the field of climate change, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality across the entire value chain 10 years ahead of schedule by 2040, achieve a net zero emission target, and achieve its goal of using 100% renewable energy for its own operations by 2030.
The report shows that in China, Sony has achieved 100% renewable energy electricity consumption ahead of schedule for three consecutive fiscal years (April 2020 to March 2023), reducing carbon dioxide by nearly 120000 tons.
Sony has been deeply rooted in the Chinese market for more than 40 years, and while developing diversified businesses, sustainable development has already been included in the group's business strategy. "Sony (China) Co., Ltd. President Takeshi Yoshida said," We hope to leverage Sony's technology and innovation capabilities, actively participate in and contribute to China's high-quality green transformation, and look forward to discovering more 'China opportunities' and' China Expo opportunities' at the CIIE
