Meta Platforms is actively offering millions of dollars in licensing fees to Hollywood stars, hoping to obtain their voice for the development of artificial intelligence projects. According to insiders, Meta has discussed developing a chatbot that can serve as a user's digital assistant or "friend," similar to Apple's Siri.
Meta is working hard to complete these transactions in order to gain more time for the development of AI tools, and plans to showcase them at the Connect 2024 conference in September. Although it is currently unclear how Meta will use these voices, this move demonstrates the company's emphasis and investment in the development of artificial intelligence technology.
Meta recently introduced a "breakthrough" generative speech system that can synthesize speech in six languages and perform tasks such as noise reduction, content editing, and audio style conversion. Meta calls it the most universal speech generation AI, and related research papers have also been published.
