There are rumors in the industry that Google is in contact with EssilorLuxottica, a manufacturer of Ray Ban glasses, and plans to further purchase shares of EssilorLuxottica and cooperate in the production of smart glasses equipped with Gemini models.
Earlier, EssilorLuxottica had collaborated with Meta to launch two generations of Ray Ban Meta smart glasses. According to the latest news, Meta also plans to spend billions of dollars to acquire approximately 5% of EssilorLuxottica's shares to deepen cooperation.
Public information shows that EssilorLuxottica is an Italian French vertically integrated multinational company headquartered in Paris. The company was formed on October 1, 2018 through the merger of Rosaottica, Italy and Essilo, France. Its brands include Ray Ban, Oakley, Michael Kors, Varilux, Crizal, Transitions, and LensCrafts.
