On June 5th, Blue Whale News learned from NIO executives that NIO's third factory is located in the Xinqiao Intelligent Electric Vehicle Industrial Park in Hefei. Construction has recently begun, with a single shift capacity of 100000 units, which will be used for the production of NIO and Ledo brand products in the future.
Earlier, according to insiders cited by foreign media, NIO has been approved to build a third factory in China with an approved production capacity of 600000 vehicles. The total production capacity of the three factories will increase to 1 million vehicles, almost on par with the size of Tesla's Shanghai factory (1.1 million vehicles).
Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of NIO, exclusively responded to Blue Whale News that due to the recent hot sales of NIO brand and our long-term strategy, NIO's two existing factories in Hefei have reached the designed single shift production capacity. With the launch of subsequent new products, the production capacity of existing factories is no longer able to meet market demand. "NIO does not have overcapacity issues."
