Tesla, whose stock price has plummeted by nearly 37% this year, has undoubtedly experienced some housing leaks recently, with consecutive nights of rain. After Musk informed all employees on Monday of his plan to lay off 10% globally, the company's previously promoted Cybertruck has now been exposed to be facing delivery issues.
According to media reports, some Cybertruck buyers have recently stated that Tesla has delayed the delivery of Cybertruck to them in recent days, but have not explained the reason. At present, it is not possible to determine specifically how many buyers have been affected by delayed delivery.
According to Max Pyko, a Cybertruck buyer from Birmingham, Alabama, USA, he was supposed to pick up the car on April 13th, but received a text message before that date reminding him that the delivery date had been cancelled. The new delivery date he received is tentatively set for April 20th.
According to the information Tesla sent to Pyko from the media, the car manufacturer initially stated, "We have just learned that there has been an unexpected delay in the preparation of your vehicle. We need to cancel your delivery appointment for tomorrow, and we will contact you again when we can reschedule your time."
Tesla subsequently sent Pyko a second text message stating, "Based on the current situation, it will take at least April 20th to resolve this issue, but it may take longer. We are working hard to send improved parts to all affected delivery points as soon as possible."
Other Cybertruck buyers across the United States have also complained online about their delayed pick-up dates. Many buyers have stated that Tesla urgently notified them of a delay in car pickup hours or days before they should have received the car.
There is no explanation for the delay in delivery
At present, it is unclear what caused the delay in delivery of Cybertruck.
But at least one Cybertruck owner claimed on social media that his accelerator pedal had been stuck when a panel on the pedal came off. After the pedal gets stuck, the car is always in a 100% throttle state - stepping on the brake can prevent the vehicle from accelerating further, but releasing the brake will accelerate again.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated on Tuesday that it is aware of this issue and is in contact with the manufacturer (Tesla) to gather more information.
Previously, Tesla recalled nearly 2.2 million vehicles in the United States in January of this year due to the brake, parking, and anti lock brake warning lights on the dashboard not meeting requirements. At that time, the scope of the recalled models included Cybertruck.
Tesla, this uniquely designed electric pickup truck, was officially launched in November last year. The CEO of the company, Musk, has warned that this model is unlikely to generate significant cash flow before the end of the year. According to Tesla's website, the cheapest Cybertruck model is priced at approximately $76000, and the more expensive version is called Cyberbear, with a starting price of approximately $96000. In contrast, the cheapest Model 3 is priced at less than one-third of Cyberbeat.
At present, Cybertruck can still be booked on Tesla's website, but delivery will not be available until next year. Tesla has stated that it will launch a lower priced Cybertruck model next year.
In the first three months of this year, Tesla's global car delivery volume significantly decreased by 8.5% compared to the same period last year. The company is facing increasingly fierce competition from Chinese car manufacturers. On Tuesday, Tesla's stock price fell for three consecutive trading days, breaking a new closing low since April 26, 2023. The decline so far this year has reached 36.7%, and its market value has infinitely approached the $500 billion mark after continuous evaporation.
