Ford announced on April 4th that it will postpone the launch of a new three row electric vehicle, pending further development in the electric vehicle consumer market.
Ford is currently expected to launch this new electric vehicle in 2027, compared to the previously planned launch date of 2025. Ford Motor stated that it will continue to produce electric vehicles at its Oakville factory in Canada, and is planning a major renovation of the factory, shifting from producing gasoline cars to producing electric vehicles.
Ford Motor said it plans to collaborate with the union Unifor to alleviate the impact of the delayed launch of the new car on employees at the Oakville factory. Ford stated that the company is still investing in other factories to increase production of electric vehicles. The company stated that it is still increasing the production of hybrid vehicles.
