The British Communications Authority (Ofcom) said in a statement on October 5 that Amazon (AWS) and Microsoft are the leading cloud infrastructure service providers in the UK, and Ofcom market research shows that the two companies have the potential to restrict competition features if left unchecked. Competition in key digital markets for the UK economy is likely to worsen. Following an investigation into the UK cloud services market, Ofcom referred the matter to the UK Competition and Markets Authority for further investigation.
