According to the latest news, Masdar, a state-owned renewable energy company in the United Arab Emirates, has successfully acquired a 49% stake in the Dogger Bank South (DBS) project from German energy giant RWE, which is expected to build one of the world's largest offshore wind farms. The two sides previously signed an agreement at the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) to invest 13.9 billion US dollars (approximately 110 billion yuan) in the collaborative development of DBS projects. Under this wave of new energy, Europe has just experienced a historic moment. According to the latest report released by energy think tank Ember, in 2023, the proportion of renewable electricity in the European Union reached 44%, with wind power generation reaching 475TWh, accounting for 18% of total power generation, surpassing natural gas for the first time and reaching a new historical high. The European Wind Energy Association stated that in 2023, Europe added 17 GW of wind power installed capacity, which is the largest increase in EU history.
