On February 24th, TSMC's first factory in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan opened today. TSMC and Sony Semiconductor Solutions announced in November 2021 the joint establishment of Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (JASM) in Kumamoto Prefecture. TSMC stated that JASM's first wafer fab is scheduled to begin production in 2024, and the second wafer fab is scheduled to begin operation in 2027.
