On September 24, local time, the Press Trust of India News Agency (PTI) reported that Indian government sources revealed that Apple plans to expand its production scale in India by more than five times in the next five years to about $40 billion.

The source said Apple's output in India exceeded $7 billion in the last fiscal year. Apple, which already makes iphones in India and plans to start making Airpods next year, has no current plans to make ipads or laptops in the country.
According to Counterpoint Research, in the second quarter of this year, high-end smartphone shipments in India accounted for 17% of the total mobile phone shipments, a record high. Apple leads the Indian ultra-premium market with a 59% share, and India is now one of Apple's top five markets.
