On January 12th, BlackRock and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) jointly announced that they had reached an agreement on BlackRock's acquisition of GIP. BlackRock will acquire GIP for a total of $3 billion in cash and approximately 12 million shares of BlackRock common stock, which were valued at approximately $9.5 billion at the close of Thursday.
