The company is working hard to dispel any confusion among people. It is increasing its efforts to enter the electronic gaming industry, utilizing production companies acquired over the past two years to produce more games based on popular Netflix movies and TV dramas.
Although Netflix is currently focused on mobile games (which attract casual game players and can be downloaded on smartphones or tablets), it is taking measures to expand to high-end games that can be played on TVs or personal computers. This approach will make it compete with giants such as Sony and Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), which has just completed a $75 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard and will bring some significant technical challenges.
According to insiders, in the coming months, Netflix users will be able to play games based on popular dramas such as the Korean thriller Squid Game and the supernatural comedy Wednesday on their mobile devices. Similarly, Netflix is also discussing games based on the "Extraction", "Sherlock Holmes" series, and "Black Mirror" series.
