The Central Bank of Argentina announced a 1500 basis point interest rate hike on the 12th, raising the benchmark interest rate from 118% to 133%. This is the sixth rate hike by the Argentine central bank this year. The Argentine central bank issued a statement on the same day stating that the main reason for the interest rate hike was the intensification of inflation in the country in September. The Argentine central bank has stated that it will closely monitor price levels, foreign exchange market trends, and adjust monetary policy in a timely manner. The Argentine National Institute of Statistics and Census released a report on the same day, stating that Argentina's inflation rate in September was 12.7%, the highest level in a single month since February 1991. The cumulative inflation rate in the past 12 months has reached 138.3%, and the cumulative inflation rate since the beginning of this year is 103.2%. The market expectation survey report released by the Central Bank of China in September predicts that the country's inflation rate will reach 169.3% in 2023.
