Facebook's parent company Meta stated in a letter to California Attorney General Rob Bonta on December 12th that allowing OpenAI to become a for-profit company would "set a dangerous precedent" by allowing startups to enjoy the advantages of non-profit status, including tax breaks, before preparing to make a profit.
