According to informed sources, Lattice Semiconductor is considering a full acquisition of Intel's Altera, which could complicate Intel's plan to sell a minority stake in the subsidiary. Lattice, headquartered in Hillsboro, Oregon, is researching potential acquisitions, collaborating with advisors, and seeking support from a private equity investment firm. It is reported that acquiring companies including Francis Partners, Bain Capital, and Silver Lake Management are also considering proposing to invest in Altera. Given the relatively small size of Lattice, it may be difficult for them to gain control of Altera. Intel spent approximately $17 billion to acquire Altera in 2015, while Lattice's market value is only $7.48 billion. Altera's multi-purpose chips are mainly used in telecommunications networks.
