According to InterfaceNews, it is reported that the US Department of Commerce sent a letter to TSMC, requesting to stop supplying AI chips with 7nm and more advanced technology to customers in Chinese Mainland from November 11. This export restriction measure mainly targets chips used for artificial intelligence accelerators and graphics processing units (GPUs). The latest control measures are only applicable to AI/GPU related chips, and chips used for mobile communication are not affected. The US Department of Commerce declined to comment.
