For the first time in 24 years, the United States is considering a mandatory split of Google: forced sale of some businesses. According to media reports, the US Department of Justice is considering a historic move to require Google to sell some of its businesses in order to mitigate the damage caused by its monopoly position in the online search market. If this measure is implemented, it will be the first time since the attempt to split Microsoft 24 years ago that the US government has considered splitting the company on the grounds of illegal monopoly.
