Top 20 US Stock Exchange Transactions: Wells Fargo Restricted from Engaging in New Business. Ranked 16th, Wells Fargo closed down 4.02% with $2.212 billion in transactions. The Office of the Superintendent of the Currency (OCC), the highest banking regulatory agency in the United States, announced on Thursday that it has found deficiencies in the operations of financial crime risk management and internal controls for anti money laundering (AML) at Wells Fargo, and has therefore taken enforcement action against the bank, requiring it to take remedial measures. According to the agreement requirements related to law enforcement actions, if Wells Fargo wants to conduct new business in areas with medium to high risks of money laundering or US sanctions in the future, it must first obtain permission from the OCC.
