Recently, the news of Tesla owners' AP assisted driving function being banned for a week after lying down and using their feet to drive has sparked heated discussions. On September 14th, Tesla customer service told Southern Metropolis Daily reporters that when using AP assisted driving, the steering wheel will recognize the turning force. If the vehicle continues to monitor the lack of hand support, it will trigger the AP function to be disabled. The act of interfering with the steering wheel with one's feet is irresponsible for driving safety, and we do not advocate such dangerous operations
A Tesla owner claimed that the assisted driving function was disabled for a week after lying down and using their feet to drive.
A netizen posted that a Tesla owner who used the AP assisted driving function was driving while lying down, and the vehicle prompted them to move the steering wheel. The owner then used their foot to move it. After three warnings, the AP assisted driving function was banned for a week. The relevant news and screenshots have been circulating on social media, attracting attention.
On the 14th, Tesla's official customer service representative stated to Southern Metropolis Daily that if a vehicle does not hold the steering wheel for a long time during the use of assisted driving and causes assisted driving to exit, it will be recorded as disabled once. After being disabled three times in total, automatic assisted steering will be disabled for approximately one week. And the steering wheel will recognize the turning force. If the vehicle continuously detects that the steering wheel is not being held by both hands, the AP function will be disabled.
The customer service representative stated, "During the use of the assisted driving function, interfering with the steering wheel with the foot is irresponsible for driving safety. We do not advocate such dangerous operations. This driving behavior may also trigger stricter disabling logic, which may directly prohibit the use of AP assisted driving during the trip
