According to sources cited by the media, Tesla plans to launch Robotaxi (autonomous taxi) at Warner Bros. Discovery's studio in Hollywood.
Tesla was originally scheduled to launch Robotaxi on August 8th, but the launch date was postponed to October in July. CEO Musk stated at the time that Tesla would need to spend more time making some design changes to the vehicles.
Insiders revealed that Tesla will showcase its specially manufactured Robotaxi vehicles in Burbank, California on October 10th local time, at Warner Bros. 'studio in the area.
Burbank is known as the "World Media Capital", and one of the predecessors of Warner Bros. Exploration, Warner Bros. headquarters, is located in the city. Warner Bros. Hollywood Studio covers an area of 110 acres and has a total of 29 studios. It has produced well-known film and television works such as Batman, Harry Potter, Friends, and The Big Bang Theory.
Although Tesla moved its headquarters from California to Austin, Texas as early as December 2021, its design studio remains in Hawthorne, California.
Musk has previously showcased new products at Hollywood studios. In 2016, Tesla's solar roof product made its debut on the set of "Desperate Housewives".
As Tesla's automotive business faces increasingly fierce competition, Musk has started betting on autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). The financial report released in July showed that Tesla's net profit for the second quarter of this year was $1.5 billion, a decrease of 45%, with an operating profit margin of 6.3%, which is not only lower than the same period last year's 9.6%, but also lower than many established car manufacturers. Tesla was once known for having significantly higher profit margins than its peers.
Due to a significant slowdown in car sales growth, Tesla has reportedly shelved its plans to build factories in multiple regions around the world, including the officially announced Mexico factory.
In addition, Tesla announced in April this year that it will launch an autonomous ride hailing app, and Musk may reveal more details about the app at the October press conference.
