On July 30th, Ma Lin, Assistant Vice President of Brand and Communication at NIO, posted on social media that high-level executives should not engage in low-level internal competition. The weekly ranking seems to have some low-level internal competition, and it calls on Li Xiang to stop, while also stating that the mission of Chinese car companies at present is to achieve technological breakthroughs through research and development.
Previously, on the afternoon of July 27th, after the NIO IN 2024 NIO Innovation and Technology Day event, core members of NIO's management team, including Li Bin, Qin Lihong, Wang Qiyan, and Ren Shaoqing, also made statements on the release of the weekly list during a media group interview.
Li Bin said that monthly sales charts are widely disclosed information by companies, and for listed companies, releasing this data is a practice of financial transparency. For enterprises, monthly sales statistics are already quite intense, and normal enterprises only disclose financial reports quarterly.
Qin Lihong, co-founder and CEO of NIO, also expressed his anger towards the weekly rankings: "I hope other companies will not include NIO in their weekly rankings. Can NIO be removed
He stated that NIO never makes sales forecasts or releases unaudited weekly sales data, and has not authorized any third-party organization to release weekly sales charts under NIO's name.
There are no more than 10 people within the company who can access weekly sales data. Therefore, the weekly sales data circulating in the market lacks rigor and is not an official authorization of the NIO brand, "said Qin Lihong. He even called on relevant departments to take charge of this.
