On January 4th local time, Google's Chrome browser launched a feature called "tracking protection", which will cut off website access to third-party cookies. Currently, it is randomly open to 1% of global users (about 30 million people). Google has described this feature update as a test and plans to completely disable third-party cookies by the end of this year, replacing them with a "privacy sandbox.".
Specifically, when users browse web pages, third-party cookies will be disabled by default. If the webpage cannot function properly, users can click on the small eyes in the browser and reactivate third-party cookies. The privacy sandbox that is about to be promoted at the end of the year can be simply understood as informing advertisers only about the areas of interest based on user browsing behavior, while allowing users to manage and categorize their interests on their own. It is said that this API advertising technology can hide individuals in groups and no longer disclose information that is precise to the individual.
