On the afternoon of November 18th, news spread on social media that a Xiaopeng P5 had fallen from the building of the Shenzhen Guanlan Delivery Center. From the photos posted online, it can be seen that the front of the car hit the Xiaopeng charging station on the ground when it landed, causing serious damage to the front of the car. The screenshot of the chat shows that the personnel from the accident vehicle have been rescued and are not in any major way.
There are currently no casualties
There have been similar accidents before
Photos and videos circulating on social media show that a Xiaopeng car fell from the second floor of the delivery center and the entire body overturned. Due to the vehicle breaking the guardrail upstairs, the guardrail fell and injured another Xiaopeng P7 parked downstairs for charging, and a Xiaopeng car overcharging pile was also hit.
Judging from the on-site images, the accident occurred at Xiaopeng Automobile Shenzhen Guanlan Delivery Center. According to the interface news report, the reporter called the store regarding this matter, and the service personnel stated that there is indeed this matter, and the specific details are not convenient to disclose.
Personnel from FAW Volkswagen stores in the same area revealed to reporters that around 2pm this year, a Xiaopeng car suddenly crashed and hit the facilities downstairs, without any casualties. The staff of the local Guanlan police station told the interface news that the cause of the accident is still under investigation and there are currently no casualties.
In response to this matter, Xiaopeng Automobile responded to the interface news that after a customer in Shenzhen completed normal vehicle maintenance, the accelerator brake was reversed and rushed out of the parking area on the second floor and fell. There were no casualties in the accident, and the charging stations and vehicles below the incident area were damaged.
It is worth mentioning that similar accidents have occurred before.
On June 22, 2022, a NIO testing vehicle crashed from the third floor in Shanghai, resulting in the deaths of two testers on board.
On the evening of June 23rd, NIO responded that based on the analysis of the on-site situation, it can be preliminarily confirmed that this was an accident and had nothing to do with the vehicle itself.
Unrealized quarterly profit
Single quarter loss of 3.89 billion yuan
In April 2021, the Xiaopeng P5 was officially released to the public, focusing on promoting the urban NGP assisted driving function. The Xiaopeng P5 is divided into three versions: G, E, and P. The most expensive version, the P version, is equipped with LiDAR and can achieve urban driving assistance. Although the Xiaopeng P5 car had already been mass-produced at the time, it did not support this feature at the beginning of delivery. Xiaopeng Automobile announced that it would upgrade and open up the use of urban roads nationwide through OTA in the future.
According to promotional information, the CNGP function will be launched for the first time by the end of 2022. But recently, about 300 Xiaopeng car owners have issued a joint complaint letter stating that after two years of collecting the car, the urban driving assistance function CNGP can only be used on some road sections in five cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Foshan.
Xiaopeng Automobile recently released its performance report for the third quarter of 2023, with a revenue of 8.53 billion yuan in the third quarter, a year-on-year increase of 25.0% and a month on month increase of 68.5%. However, Xiaopeng Automobile has not yet achieved quarterly profit, with a net loss of 3.89 billion yuan and a gross profit margin of -2.7% in the third quarter.
