Walt Disney (DIS) will raise ticket prices at its theme parks as the entertainment conglomerate looks to generate more revenue from its theme park division amid a weak TV business and a challenging transition to streaming.
At the company's Disneyland resort in California, the lowest single-day ticket still costs $104. But on the most popular days, Disneyland will raise ticket prices by more than 8 percent, to $194. For a five-day pass, the price is raised nearly 16 percent, to $480.
Disneyland has also raised the prices of various add-ons. Disneyland's Genie+ product, which allows guests to shorten lines, now costs $30 per person, up $5. For five-day passes, the Park Hopper is also up 25%, to $75; It allows guests to travel between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park in the same day.
Disney World in Florida raised the price of parking and annual passes, respectively, but there was no change in date-based fares.
Along with the price adjustments, Disney plans to invest about $60 billion in its theme parks and cruise division over the next decade, about double what the division has invested in the past decade.
