According to the Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar has the highest trade volume with China, Thailand and Singapore in half a fiscal year 2023-2024.
Myanmar trades with 238 countries abroad and with 135 countries through sea and border crossings in half a fiscal year.
Over half a fiscal year, 2023-2024, Myanmar ' s export trade amounted to more than $7.6 billion, while its import trade totalled more than $8.5 billion and its total trade to over $16 billion.
Total trade with China was the highest, at $4.5 billion. Of that amount, exports amounted to $1.54 billion and imports to $2.96 billion. Total trade with Thailand amounted to $3,068 million, export trade to $2,035 million and import trade to $1,033 million. Total trade with Singapore amounted to $1.812 billion, of which exports amounted to $72.355 million and imports to $1.74 billion.
An additional 8 new investment projects in Yangon, Myanmar, are expected to create 5541 jobs
The office of the Yangon Investment Commission announced that they had approved eight new investment projects at their most recent 10/2023 meeting. These projects came from two in-house and six in-house projects in the industrial sector.
After rigorous review and evaluation, the eight investment projects have been formally approved and confirmed, namely: the shoe production sales project, the CMP garments project, the CMP Wearing Apparel garments project, the export sales project for the packaging of vegetables and fruits, the CMP production of various headphones and accessories, the production of all types of packaging boxes and labels on a paper basis, the 100 per cent domestic marketing project, the CMP production of high-quality Poly Resin, Cold Cast Bronze, Pewter and the ceramic and sculpture production project.
The total investment for these eight projects amounts to 4,552,32.5 million kyats and $6,236,000, and is expected to create 5541 jobs. With the construction and operation of these projects, the economic dynamism of Yangon will be further enhanced, creating more employment opportunities and economic development opportunities for the local population.
