According to CCTV news, the French market regulatory agency announced on March 20th that it has issued a new fine of 250 million euros (approximately 272 million US dollars) to Google in the United States for using content from French publishers and news agencies to train chatbot "Budd" (its upgraded version is "Gemini") without permission, violating European Union intellectual property regulations.
The French Competition Authority said on the same day that as a condition for settlement, Google promised not to defend its violations and proposed a series of measures to correct product and service defects.
Google said on the 20th that it is seeking reconciliation because it wants to resolve the dispute and "needs to move forward.". Google also hinted that the punishment decision was too severe, stating that French regulatory agencies did not fully consider the difficulty of Google's "exploring new paths", "because we cannot predict where the next gust of wind will blow.".
