Alaska Airlines CEO: Loose bolts found on multiple Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft
On January 23rd local time, Ben Minicucci, CEO of Alaska Airlines, stated in an interview with NBC News that inspections of the aircraft had found "many" loose bolts on the Boeing 737 Max 9. He said he had a difficult and candid conversation with Boeing executives, "I'm angry, I'm not just frustrated and disappointed." Minikach said he called on Boeing to improve its internal quality control and said Alaska Airlines is currently conducting additional supervision on Boeing's production line.
The Boeing 737 team will suspend production for one day and hold a quality meeting
On January 23rd local time, Boeing announced in an email statement that the 737 aircraft factory team will suspend production for one day and hold a "shutdown quality meeting" in Washington. Employees will participate in practical learning and reflective collaboration, identifying areas where quality can be improved and compliance strengthened.
