As the only multinational enterprise that fully participates in the entire process of China's construction from 1G to 5G, we exhibit or introduce Ericsson's current and future most mainstream, cutting-edge, and most influential communication connectivity technologies, products, or solutions at the CIIE every year. "said Fang Ying, Executive Vice President of Ericsson Northeast Asia and President of China.
As one of the important participants in the global 5G market, Ericsson has participated in the CIIE for the sixth consecutive year. This year, it showcases 5G innovative technologies and applications in four themed exhibition areas, and looks forward to the 6G vision.
The CIIE is a pioneering initiative for China to promote high-level openness and constantly bring various new opportunities to the development of economic globalization. Fang Ying admitted that he "empathizes" because "the communication industry itself is an industry that relies on openness and collaboration to develop. Without close collaboration between the upstream and downstream of the global industry chain and within and outside the industry, there would be no today's globally standardized 5G communication network
We have noticed that China has taken the lead in entering the second half of 5G construction with the core of 'unleashing 5G value', "said Wu Lidong, Vice President and General Manager of Marketing and Public Relations Department of Ericsson Northeast Asia. Ericsson is committed to building a 'better 5G network' and hopes to seize the 'opportunity to enter the Expo' to serve global digital construction and sustainable development, including China.
During this year's CIIE, Ericsson focused on the theme of "5G New Wave" and shared relevant innovative technologies, products, and application practices with everyone from the four dimensions of "performance, energy conservation, empowerment, and intelligence".
In the booth, Ericsson showcased the "versatile" 5G advanced remote expert support system in the Nanjing 5G intelligent factory, as well as the next generation Andon (Andeng) system that relies on 5G data collection to provide real-time feedback on the working status of the production line, as well as several new call application cases such as holographic communication, interactive sharing, and screen sharing.
In the "6G Vision" themed exhibition area, a terahertz prototype capable of reaching an ultra-high downlink rate of 100Gbps and a vest prototype woven from a large number of sensor fibers were displayed on-site. In the future, these devices only need to store the surrounding light energy, electromagnetic radiation, and even the energy generated by friction to power the system and transmit signals.
5G is rapidly developing, and since the construction of the world's first 5G network in 2019, there have been over 260 commercial networks worldwide. From the supplementary data released in September this year in the second quarter of the Ericsson Mobile Market Report, it can be seen that in the second quarter of 2023, the global 5G signing number increased by 175 million, and the global 5G signing number reached nearly 1.3 billion. Approximately 260 operators have launched 5G commercial services.
This year is the fourth year for China to launch 5G for commercial use. 5G has become an important component of China's new infrastructure and is also seen as a key driver for promoting the digital transformation and upgrading of the real economy. Data shows that as of September this year, the number of base stations in China has reached 3.189 million, the number of 5G phone contracts has reached 695 million, and the total number of 5G applications in China has reached 50000.
Ericsson China Chief Technology Officer Wang Haobo stated that Ericsson's wireless product solutions support about 60% of global 5G commercial network deployments, and 5G has achieved very good results in coverage, capacity, and energy consumption. At present, 5G is taking shape, and realizing value has become the core requirement of 5G evolution. The core of the "5G New Wave" proposed by Ericsson is to create an excellent network driven by value.
Since the signing of the letter of intent for procurement at the first China International Import and Export Fair in 2018, Ericsson has been working closely with Chinese telecom operators in the construction of 5G commercial networks, technological evolution and innovation, global application cases, and international standardization to promote industrial development. Ericsson also showcased the "5G manhole cover station" jointly developed with domestic operator partners on site this year.
At this year's CIIE, Ericsson reached procurement cooperation intentions with China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom. Fang Ying stated that we will also continue to leverage Ericsson's resource endowment and technical expertise in the new wave of 5G, actively supporting the Chinese market in areas such as local research and development, procurement, and production services. By providing excellent products and services, introducing global network construction experience and application cases, we will help China build a better 5G network, thereby jointly creating and sharing a better digital future.
Wu Lidong said that in the future, Ericsson will still closely link its development vision, resource endowments, and professional abilities with the inherent needs of China's new stage of development and sustainable future, and contribute to the development of China's communication industry and technology.
