On November 8th, the 2023 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit officially opened. This year is the tenth year of the Wuzhen Summit, and the theme of this summit is "Building an Inclusive, Inclusive, and Resilient Digital World - Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace". The key technology of Baidu's knowledge enhancement big language model won the "World Internet Conference Leading Science and Technology Award". Wang Haifeng, chief technology officer of Baidu and director of the National Engineering Research Center for Deep Learning Technology and Application, released the key technology achievements of Wenxin big model on the spot.
The World Internet Leading Science and Technology Achievements are organized and released by the World Internet Congress, which widely solicits cutting-edge technology application results globally, and selects internationally representative annual leading science and technology achievements through evaluation. The World Internet Leading Technology Achievement Release Event has been held consecutively since 2016, aiming to lead the forefront of technological innovation, advocate for technological exchange and cooperation, and have played a positive role in the development of world Internet technology. This year, this event has been comprehensively upgraded to the World Internet Conference Leading Technology Award, and has been divided into three categories for the first time: key technology, basic research, and engineering research and development, to recognize the annual leading Internet technology achievements globally.
This conference collected 246 leading scientific and technological achievements from China, the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries, covering artificial intelligence, big data, 5G, Internet of Vehicles and other fields. After 40 experts at home and abroad reviewed, Baidu's key technology of knowledge enhancement big language model became the only award-winning big model technology, which is also after Baidu Brain, Small Assistant (DuerOS), Apollo, PaddlePaddle, Baidu received this honor for the fifth time at the Wuzhen Summit of the World Internet Conference.
When Wang Haifeng released the leading technological achievements of the knowledge enhancement big language model, he stated: Artificial intelligence is leading a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and the big language model has shown people the dawn of universal artificial intelligence. Knowledge augmentation is the key technology of the big language model, breaking through knowledge internalization and external application technology, possessing unique technological advantages of knowledge augmentation, retrieval augmentation, and dialogue augmentation. Through joint optimization of models and frameworks, it has broken through the training scale, improved training efficiency, and improved model effectiveness
Baidu released a new generation of knowledge enhancement big language model ERNIE Bot on March 16 this year. At present, its basic model has iterated to version 4.0 of Wenxin big model. Since its opening up to the whole society, the user base has reached 70 million and there are 4300 scenarios.
