On November 15th, the official Weibo account of JD spokesperson released a statement regarding the fire at Wuxi Logistics Park.
The statement stated that at 22:00 on November 12, 2024, a fire broke out in the No. 5 warehouse of the second phase of the Yupei Logistics Park in Wuxi. After the full efforts of firefighters to extinguish the fire, the fire was quickly controlled and extinguished, and no casualties were caused. It did not spread to surrounding warehouses, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The statement stated that there have been recent online rumors claiming that "phones worth billions were burned," "the entire logistics park was completely unrecognizable," "all the packages in the logistics park were packed with flammable materials, including phone batteries," "temporary workers who used them for 12 hours and secretly smoked," etc. After investigation, the above statements were all fabricated rumors. The burning warehouse is an inventory warehouse, not a sorting operation warehouse, and there are no phones or any express packages stored. The items stored are lower value goods such as daily necessities.
The statement indicates that the logistics park has gradually resumed normal operations. JD Logistics has reported the above rumors to the police. JD Logistics operates normally in Wuxi, and consumers' receipt of express delivery will not be affected.
