On September 13th local time, Indian film producer Soham Shah sued Netflix in federal court in New York, accusing the latter of "openly plagiarizing" his 2009 Hindi film "Luck" from the popular TV series "Squid Game". Netflix is preparing to release the second season of Squid Game later this year.
Shah said that 'Lucky' tells the story of a group of desperate and heavily indebted people who are lured into a series of competitive games to win huge bonuses, only to later discover that losing the game means losing their lives. Shah stated in the lawsuit that "the main plot, characters, themes, emotions, settings, and sequence of events in Squid Game are astonishingly similar to those in the movie Lucky, and this degree of similarity cannot be a coincidence
