On August 17th, the high-end think tank "New Quality Productivity" and the 2nd "Vitality ESG" Forum, jointly organized by 21st Century Business Herald and Oriental Securities, was held in Hongkou, Shanghai. Li Chaodong, Senior Vice President of Ruxin Group Greater China and Chief Representative of Beijing Representative Office, participated in the roundtable discussion on "Green Consumption Leading the New Trend of Life".
When it comes to understanding green consumption and green trends, Li Chaodong believes that the new quality productivity, high-quality development, green environmental protection, and green consumption advocated by China are actually organic components of the overall national development strategy.
Green consumption, in a broad sense, should be divided into three levels. The first level is at the national level, where the country should formulate correct policies and regulations to encourage green environmental protection, provide policy and financial support to enterprises that implement green transformation, and punish high-energy consuming enterprises that violate carbon emission related regulations. National policies will strongly encourage and support the smooth implementation of green transformation. The second level is at the enterprise level, where green consumption behavior of enterprises should be implemented in various aspects such as green buildings, raw material selection, production methods, sales, and after-sales services. Energy conservation and emission reduction are the most important aspects for all enterprises under the current situation. The third level is at the consumer level, where consumers should first establish the correct concept of green consumption and cultivate a green consumption lifestyle. Methods and consumer behavior, "said Li Chaodong.
Meanwhile, Li Chaodong also called on everyone to pay attention to the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Li Chaodong believes that the United Nations holds an annual climate change conference to study how to control the warming of the Earth's temperature. At the first United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2022, the Secretary General of the United Nations emphasized that controlling global temperature change is currently the most important focus: "Humans are still aggressively stepping on the accelerator in terms of carbon emissions and running towards rising temperatures
The second conference will be held in November 2023, which is the hottest year on record in terms of temperature. The entire Earth is experiencing extreme temperatures, with some areas experiencing scorching heat and others experiencing floods. This has raised demands for consumers, governments, and businesses to accelerate green environmental protection and consumption.
As a fast-moving consumer goods company, Ruxin Group's main products are nutritional supplements and skincare cosmetics. Currently, it has established branches in 50 countries and regions, with a total sales revenue of over 35 billion yuan and a total tax payment of over 15 billion yuan in China. It has been listed as one of the top 100 foreign-invested enterprises in Shanghai multiple times.
Li Chaodong said, "Our company has been implementing the concept of green environmental protection since the construction of the factory. In 2014, we established the Greater China Innovation Park in Shanghai. At the end of last year, the second phase of the factory officially opened. Both places have won the highest award in the US green building evaluation system - LEED Gold Award. In terms of green concepts, Ruxin Group is promoting the "3P" concept and "Go Green" concept in China. "3P" refers to the Earth and Environment (Planet), Humanities and Communities (People), and Research and Development (Product). Ruxin Group's commitment to green development over the years has also brought great gains. We have invested a lot of manpower and material resources in this area, and the main gains are threefold. The first gain is the establishment of a green and environmentally friendly concept among global employees. This is an important aspect, as we have nearly 400000 employees worldwide who will influence everyone around us. The second gain is that we have reduced unit energy consumption and improved labor productivity through energy conservation and environmental protection, and the benefits in this regard are gradually reflected. The third gain is that ESG has become a value system for our company's annual self-evaluation.
