Recently, China's first million kilowatt offshore photovoltaic project officially connected its first batch of power units to the grid. It is reported that the project is built by Guohua Investment, a national energy group, in the HG14 sea area of Shandong Province. All of it uses JinkoSolar's N-type TOPCon Tiger Neo double-sided components with a supply capacity of 1.32GW. As the world's largest and first gigawatt scale offshore photovoltaic project, the successful grid connection of this project provides feasible technical solutions and demonstration samples for innovative applications of offshore photovoltaics worldwide.
As an emerging energy utilization method, offshore photovoltaics are regarded as an important direction for future energy development due to their significant advantages of high power generation and low land occupation. But the marine environment is also one of the most severe corrosive environments in nature, with high salt spray, high salinity, ultra strong ultraviolet radiation, extreme temperature changes, wet dry alternation, biological adhesion, etc., all constantly testing the performance of photovoltaic modules.
With profound technological accumulation and continuous product innovation, JinkoSolar actively promotes the development of offshore photovoltaics. In this project, JinkoSolar adopted upgraded and optimized N-type TOPCon Tiger Neo components tailored to the characteristics of the marine environment, providing solid technical support for the successful grid connection of the project. This component adopts various advanced structural designs and material selections, with higher power density, single watt power generation, double-sided power generation efficiency, and lower attenuation rate. In addition, the components are also made of double tempered glass and POE packaging, which can effectively prevent water vapor erosion, resist salt spray corrosion, and cope with complex and special marine environments such as seawater immersion, strong winds and waves, and extreme temperature changes. This effectively improves power generation efficiency and reduces the cost of electricity per kilowatt hour.
JinkoSolar has been deeply involved in the field of offshore photovoltaics for many years. According to the empirical base data in the coastal mudflat environment of Putian, Fujian Province, TOPCon's power generation per watt is higher for competing components, providing a reliable guarantee for the successful implementation of offshore photovoltaic projects, and greatly improving the value of comprehensive utilization of the sea area. It is estimated that after the completion and operation of the project, the annual power generation will reach 1.78 billion kilowatt hours, which can meet the annual electricity consumption of about 2.67 million ordinary Chinese urban residents, equivalent to saving about 503800 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.3447 million tons.
It is worth mentioning that in the previous rigorous testing of CIMC's semi submersible offshore floating photovoltaic demonstration platform, JinkoSolar's TOPCon module underwent a year and a half of offshore empirical testing, and the results showed that its power attenuation was reduced by 20% compared to conventional ordinary modules, further confirming the high reliability and durability of the technology and demonstrating the company's leading position in the field of offshore photovoltaics.
