Shanghai, November 9th (Xinhua) -- "Overall, the Chinese sports market has broad prospects and full potential, and we are confident in it," said Dong Wei, Chairman and CEO of Nike Greater China, to reporters during the 7th China International Import Expo.
Nike's confidence in the Chinese market is not only reflected in words, but also in actions. At last year's CIIE, Nike announced that the Nike Sports Research Laboratory would be located in China. This year, Nike's sports research laboratory "Form" made its debut, bringing live interactive experiences to the audience of the CIIE. On November 4th, the "Form" laboratory entered the NIKE Shanghai Huaihai brand experience store, making China the first market to bring this service to retail stores.
The 'Form' service in the laboratory can help runners better understand themselves, provide consumers with better and more comprehensive training plans and equipment support based on their own needs and physical conditions, "said Dong Wei.
At the CIIE, Nike fully showcased its exploration in the field of running technology, from classic speed systems to cushioning technology, and even Nike Flyknit shoe upper technology. Nike exhibits cover the entire product portfolio of athletics, marathons, road running, and cross-country running.
Injecting technological elements into sports has always been highly valued by Nike. Dong Wei revealed that Nike has just announced new cooperation projects with Shanghai Sport University and the Su Bingtian Speed Research and Training Center at Jinan University. Through these collaborations, we hope to work together with Chinese universities and top athletes to promote more technological innovation and development in running, "said Dong Wei.
The competition in the Chinese sports market is fierce, and Nike has also felt pressure in recent years. In addition to adhering to the core business of running, Dong Wei said, "We have many new growth points, such as the women's market, which are the direction of our future development
In addition, Nike will also carry out differentiated development for different cities in China. Dong Wei said, "First tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen will make comprehensive efforts, while more cities will focus on outdoor sports business and winter ice and snow sports based on their characteristics
